Privacy Policy

[Effective January 22, 2026]

When you submit photos of your hotel room to TraffickCam, we collect and store the photographs you submit along with the hotel name, room number, and the GPS coordinate of your device at the time of submission. We use the GPS coordinate to help verify that the photographs were taken at the correct hotel. We do not collect other personally identifiable information, and we do not track your location outside of the moment you submit photos.

Photos and related information are stored on servers managed by the TraffickCam team and retained to support our mission to combat human trafficking by recognizing where victims of human trafficking and child sexual abuse are photographed. By submitting photos, you agree that the images are released under a Creative Commons CC0 (public domain) license. This allows the images to be freely used, shared, and adapted for research, investigative, and mission-aligned purposes.

We retain submitted photos and associated information unless you request removal. Because user submissions are anonymous, we need specific details to identify the correct images for deletion. To request deletion, email support@traffickcam.org with the subject line “Request for Data Deletion.” In your message, please include the hotel name you submitted from and the date you submitted the photos. If you do not recall the exact submission date, provide the date range of your stay. We will use this information to locate your submission and, once confirmed, we will remove the images from our active systems and reply to your email to confirm that the removal is complete.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. We will post any updates on this page with a new effective date.
If you have questions about this policy, please contact us at support@traffickcam.org.
